ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY IN INDRAPRASTH COLLEGE

ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY IN INDRAPRASTH COLLEGE

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi recently received the suggestions for setting up the  Welfare Society for the dogs of the university. The former students of the college complained to Meneka Gandhi that they were not allowed on the campus to feed the dogs.

These students just want to ensure that whether the dogs over there are safe. On this issue, the university authority said that because of the repetitive dog bites incidents they are not allowing the students to enter the campus. This hampers the security of the university residence somehow.

P.K. Upmanyu, Joint Registrar of the university said that they haven’t disallowed the students to feed the dogs, they have just asked to feed them outside the campus. But this was becoming cumbersome for the students so they asked Meneka Gandhi to resolve the issue.

Meneka Gandhi suggested the university officials set up an Animal Welfare Society and allow people to be compassionate towards the animal. She contacted the university after she was informed that the dogs had been allegedly killed on the campus. This suggestion of Meneka Gandhi is quite dilemmatic for the authorities of the university because this will somehow tamper the security of the university.  The decision is still to be pending but if we look at the scenario of animals then it is very important to set up the Animal Welfare Societies for protecting them from the brutal mishappenings.
