If you are a pet owner, you might already be dealing with unwanted hair of your pets at home. It doesn’t matter if you have a cat or a dog as a pet or whatever is their age, they shed. There are some breeds that might shed less and some that might shed more. But eventually, all pets shed. You cannot stop them from shedding but there are few things that you can do as a pet owner to reduce the problem of pet sheds in your home.

The reason why pets shed is to get rid of the extra, damaged or old hair. In cold months, animals grow a heavy coat to keep themselves warm and during summer, they shed all the extra hair. Pets might shed more if they are irritated or they are facing any allergy.

Tips to minimize excessive shedding

• The most important tip is to keep on brushing your pet. Brushing is best to keep your home fur-free. Brushing even makes the pet’s coat soft, cleaner and not likely to shed. There are various types of brushes that you can choose from like mat breakers, shedding blades and love gloves.
• In order to manage the excessive shedding, provide your pet with a properly balanced diet. Your pet’s fur is a true reflection of what they eat. Pets that have an unhealthy diet, shed more.
• Supplement your pet’s diet with fish oil and fatty acids to keep the pet’s coat healthy and shiny.
• Bathing your pet regularly. Just like we, humans bath ourselves to remove dirt and dead hair, pets require the same. Just don’t over bath your pet as it causes the skin of the pet to dry which increases the pet shed. 

If even after this, you notice your pet’s hairs are still excessively shedding then, you shall visit a vet soon.
