HOW TO POTTY TRAIN YOUR PUPPY?

Potty training a puppy is not as daunting a task as it might seem. It just requires persistence and dedication on your part.

One of the biggest areas of difficulty for people who adopt puppies is potty training. If humans don’t complete this process properly, it falls into the category of training issues that is one of the most common reasons why dogs are surrendered to shelters.

So it’s very important to housetrain her/him correctly from the beginning, to enhance your relationship with your dog. In practice, it sure is a very big task. Naturally, on the street, puppies know how and where to do their business, to eat or sleep.

Keep It Clean

Puppies learn with their surroundings, especially from their moms, they immediately get rid of any mess her puppies make. They need that familiar smell to relieve themselves, without it they might find it difficult.

How do we recreate this approach for our puppies, then? You will have to immediately clean the places wherever your puppy has met with an accident, we will have to make them understand, in other words, they have got to understand that inside is not the place to do their business and how going outside for bathroom breaks is important.

Keep a Schedule

One can replace a mother but to recreate the frame, we humans have to do certain things, with regular, set times for training, feeding, bathroom breaks and sleep. You will have to keep in mind the correct intervals, most common times for a puppy to have to go right after sleeping, eating, and playing.

If your baby is very small and is not well vaccinated so you can not take him/her outside, then we need a space in the house but a little aloof. This place has to be differentiated from where your pup stays. You also need to crate train your pup so that he/she doesn’t have the run of the house.

Not on The Carpet

Remember, if your puppy is going loose, the original bit of matting he/she finds that’s far from where she/he dozes off and eats is going to become a mark.

Why do puppies tend to loiter on the carpet instead of easily cleaned tile? Carpet is soft under their paws and gives them a feeling of standing on grass, which makes it easy for them.

Puppy pads are temporary solutions that can be used till your little champ is not ready to go out. You will have to trick with your pooch, they will have to gradually get used to with the fact that outside is the real place to poop, so just drag the pad slowly near the gate, during training. This will build an association in his mind between that door and going to the bathroom. Eventually, going out that door itself will trigger the behavior in your dog’s mind: “Okay, let's go.”
