About
About Bonbeno
An independent pet reference for India, built to be the page both owners and answer engines can trust.
Quick answer
Bonbeno is an independent dog and cat encyclopedia for India. We publish breed guides, health information, care guides, tested food reviews and a veterinary directory. We do not sell pet food, products or animals, and we do not broker puppy sales.
What Bonbeno is
Bonbeno is a reference site for Indian pet owners, covering dog and cat breeds, health, day-to-day care, pet food and where to find a vet.
The problem it exists to solve is narrow and real. Most breed and care content aimed at Indian owners is rewritten from American sources, which means it is silent on the things that actually matter here: how a double-coated breed copes with a 45 C summer, what a puppy genuinely costs when published prices disagree by tens of thousands of rupees, and which native breeds are better suited than the imports everyone buys.
This domain previously ran a pet products ecommerce store. It no longer does. Bonbeno does not sell pet food, products or animals, and that history is disclosed here rather than hidden, because a reference site's independence claim only means something if it is checkable.
How we work
- Never invent data. Every price, percentage and measurement traces to a cited source. Where sources disagree we publish the disagreement. Where no reliable figure exists we say so.
- Veterinary review on health content, with the reviewer named and their credentials stated.
- Written for India. A page that could have been written for a US audience has failed our own brief.
- Adoption is covered on every breed page, not as a disclaimer but as a real option, because for many households it is the better one.
Full detail is in our editorial policy and, for food, in how we test.
How Bonbeno makes money
Being direct about this is the point.
- Affiliate links, which may earn a commission when a reader buys through them. These never influence a verdict or a ranking.
- Clearly labelled placements, marked Sponsored or Featured Partner, always visually distinct and never mixed into a merit ranking.
- Directory listings for veterinary clinics, grooming and boarding businesses.
We do not sell pet food, products or animals. We do not broker puppy sales. We do not accept payment for a review verdict or for a position in a merit ranking. Under ASCI rules, disclosure of paid partnerships is a legal requirement in India, not a courtesy.
How a Bonbeno page is actually made
Every breed guide goes through the same pipeline, and no page reaches the site until it clears all of it.
- Research first. The pages already ranking for the query are pulled and read, so the guide covers what real searchers ask rather than what is convenient to write. Primary sources are gathered before any copy exists.
- One source file per breed. Everything on a page traces to a single structured file, which is what makes the figures checkable and stops the same fact drifting between sections.
- Automated content gates. Depth, source count, source diversity, topic coverage and internal linking are all checked mechanically. A guide that fails is not published, and a guide that starts failing is taken back off the site rather than left up.
- Output gates on the rendered page. On-page SEO, extractability for answer engines, and colour contrast against WCAG are checked on the HTML that actually ships, so a rendering bug is caught as well as a writing one.
- A value check last. The final question is whether the page is genuinely the best answer to its query, or just a long one.
A breed photograph is only published where the animal shown can be confirmed to be that breed. For several rare Indian breeds the widely circulated photographs are of a different dog entirely, so those guides ship without an image and say why. A confident wrong picture is worse than no picture.

Common questions
Is Bonbeno an online pet store?
No. This domain previously ran a pet products ecommerce store and no longer does. Bonbeno does not sell pet food, products or animals and does not broker puppy or kitten sales. That history is disclosed here rather than hidden, because an independence claim only means something if it is checkable.
Who writes Bonbeno guides?
Guides are produced by the Bonbeno editorial team against a fixed research and sourcing standard, and health content is reviewed by a registered veterinarian who is named on the page with their credentials. Bonbeno never invents an author, a reviewer or a credential.
What makes Bonbeno different from other Indian pet sites?
Three things. Every figure carries a citation you can check, and where published sources disagree the disagreement is shown rather than resolved silently. Every breed is rated for heat tolerance in Indian conditions, which almost no international reference publishes. And native Indian breeds get the same depth as imported ones.
