Dog food brand

Fidele dog food in India

Fidele is an importer's own label. The dry food is made in Belgium by a named contract manufacturer, the veterinary diets say the United Kingdom, and the wet pouches say India, all on the brand's own site. This page records who makes it, the group that also makes Petstar, the packs that shrank while two sellers still declare the old weight, and what the same bag costs across five sellers.

Quick answer

Fidele dog food is the own label of Orange Pet Nutrition, a Pune importer, and its dry food is made in Belgium by United Pet Food Producers NV at Terdonkkaai 16, 9042 Gent. The brand's own site gives three different countries across its range: Belgium for the dry food, the United Kingdom for five veterinary diets and India for the wet pouches. The packs were downsized to 900 g, 2.7 kg and 10.8 kg, and an Amazon listing still declares 12,000 grams at Rs 8,033.

Where it is made

Origin is recorded per product, not per brand, because it varies per product. The evidence column says how strong each row is: a pack in hand outranks a filing, and a marketplace listing is the weakest thing here that is still evidence.

Fidele+ dry dog food, as described by the brand's own About pageBelgiumBrand's own site"Made in Belgium", and "every Fidele recipe is proudly crafted in Belgium, one of the world's most respected destinations for premium pet food manufacturing". The brand stating its own origin, which is the strongest non-pack source available for it.
Fidele Plus Large Puppy, Adult Light & Senior and Adult Small & Medium dry (Supertails listings)USA declared, while a Belgian factory is named on the same lineRetailer listing (weak)Each of the three reads "Country of Origin: USA Name & Address of Manufacturer: United Pet Food Producers NV, Terdonkkaai 16, 9042 Gent, Belgium", with Imported by and Marketed by both Orange Pet Nutrition at Lonikand, Pune. Nothing corroborates a United States origin and the brand's own site says Belgium, so this reads as a retailer data error rather than a fourth country.
Fidele Plus Adult Large dry (I Think Pets listing)BelgiumRetailer listing (weak)Country of origin stated as Belgium, with "Imported & Marketed by Orange Pet Nutrition Pvt Ltd" at the Lonikand, Pune address. A fourth independent source agreeing with the brand and the pack.
Fidele+ Veterinary Diet Skin Support, Puppy Growth, Hypoallergenic and Gastro IntestinalUnited Kingdom, in the brand's own wordsBrand's own siteEach product body reads "Manufactured in the United Kingdom to maintain the highest standards of quality". No plant is named. The United Petfood group's own privacy policy lists exactly one United Kingdom company, at Llangadog in Wales, which is also the site named on Petstar's pack, so the pointer is strong and the attribution is not established.
Fidele+ Veterinary Diet Weight ManagementUnited Kingdom and Belgium, both stated in one product descriptionBrand's own siteThe same body contains "Manufactured in the United Kingdom to maintain the highest standards of quality" and "Made in Belgium". One is wrong and the brand does not say which. Its Renal Support sibling reads "Manufactured in the Belgium", with a stray article, while the other four veterinary diets say the United Kingdom.
Fidele+ Renal Wet Pouch for Cats, 80 gIndiaBrand's own site"Manufactured in India to maintain the highest standards of quality" and "Conceptualised and manufactured in India". So the importer's own label is domestically made in at least one format, which is the opposite of the brand's overall story and is stated by the brand itself.
The manufacturing group behind both Fidele and PetstarOne group, with entities in Ghent and LlangadogCompany filingUnited Petfood's website privacy policy, published under the General Data Protection Regulation, states "The United Petfood group consists of the following companies" and lists fifteen with registered offices and VAT numbers, including United Petfood Producers NV at Terdonkkaai 16, 9042 Ghent (named on Fidele's pack) and United Petfood UK Ltd. at Station road Llangadog Unit 1, SA19 9LY Wales (named on Petstar's pack). This closes a question Petstar's page recorded as not established.
Fidele+ Maxi Adult dry, 2.7 kg (Amazon B0G337F7P5)Not stated, with the importer named in the manufacturer fieldRetailer listing (weak)No country of origin field. "Manufacturer | Orange Pet Nutrition" and a Pune address as Packer Contact Information. Net Quantity 2700.0 Grams, which does confirm the current pack weight. Naming the importer where the manufacturer belongs is how an imported food comes to look domestic.

What it costs in India

Each row is one seller's listed price for one pack size on one date, converted to a price per kilogram so the pack sizes compare. Indian marketplace pricing moves, so a single listing is not a price and none of these is quoted on its own. One row shows a seller that stocks this product with nothing payable on the day it was read. Such a row is here because it evidences distribution, and it carries no price because a figure you cannot pay is not one.

  • Amazon.in, Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 2.7 kg. Cheapest of five. MRP Rs 2,150, 10 percent off. Net Quantity declared as 2700.0 Grams, which confirms the current pack. This listing names Orange Pet Nutrition, the importer, as Manufacturer and gives no country of origin. Ranked #1 in Dehydrated Dog Food, which is the wrong category for extruded kibble. 3.6 from 3 ratings.
  • Rufftail, Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 2.7 kg. A Pune retailer, from its own variant data. MRP Rs 2,150. Ten rupees above Amazon.
  • Supertails, Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 2.7 kg. MRP Rs 2,150. This seller's listing for the same range declares the country of origin as USA beside a Belgian manufacturer address.
  • Animeal, Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 2.7 kg. This seller labels the pack 3 kg at the same Rs 2,150 the brand charges for 2.7 kg. The per-kilogram figure here uses the brand's own 2.7 kg, because the brand marks that size as new and this price point matches it exactly. If the pack really is 3 kg the figure would be Rs 716.67.
  • Orange Pet Nutrition (fidele.co and orangepet.in), Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 2.7 kg. The brand's own price, and the dearest of the five at 11.7 percent above Amazon. Counted once although it appears on two storefronts, fidele.co and orangepet.in, because both belong to Orange Pet Nutrition and carry identical figures.
  • Supertails, Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 10.8 kg. Cheapest large bag. MRP Rs 7,900. The same page also offers a 13.5 kg at Rs 7,505 marked unavailable, which cannot be right against this figure and reads as a retired label.
  • Orange Pet Nutrition (fidele.co and orangepet.in), Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 10.8 kg. The brand's own price for its largest Maxi Adult bag, and the only 10.8 kg in its range that was in stock when read. Rs 731.48 per kilogram is the cheapest rate the brand itself offers.
  • Amazon.in, Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 10.8 kg. This listing is titled 12 Kg and declares Net Quantity 12000.0 Grams, while the brand's current large bag is 10.8 kg. The per-kilogram figure here uses 10.8 kg. On the declared 12 kg it would be Rs 669.42, so which weight ships changes the rate by 11 percent. Amazon's own unit price reads Rs 66.94 per 100 g, correctly labelled. 4.1 from 28 ratings.
  • Supertails, Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 900 g. MRP Rs 750. The smallest bag and the dearest rate, which is the ordinary small-pack premium.
  • Orange Pet Nutrition (fidele.co and orangepet.in), Fidele+ Maxi Adult Dry Dog Food, large breed, 900 g. Orange Pet's variant name carries the word New on this size, which is the brand telling a reader the pack changed. Animeal sells this same Rs 750 price point as 1 kg.
  • Orange Pet Nutrition (fidele.co), Fidele+ Veterinary Diet Renal Support, 1.5 kg. A therapeutic renal diet sold direct with no prescription step. Its own product body says Manufactured in the Belgium, where the other four veterinary diets say the United Kingdom. The 4 kg is Rs 4,000, or Rs 1,000 per kilogram.

Recall checks

Each register below was searched for this brand, and then searched again for something comparable to prove it answers at all. A register that returns nothing for both has cleared nothing. India maintains no pet food recall register, so no row here can stand in for one.

RegisterHits for this brandControlWhat a nil result is worth hereChecked
openFDA enforcement API02 for product_description:"dog food", the identical method on the same dayNothing: the API does not index animal food2026-10-13
US FDA Animal & Veterinary recalls02 for search_api_fulltext=pedigree, the identical method on the same day, which returns two entries on this registerMeaningful but window-bounded to about three years2026-10-13
openFDA enforcement API

Four terms covering the brand, the named Belgian manufacturer in both spellings and the Indian importer, all nil, against controls returning two rows for dog food and one for pet food. A United States register, so this is close to the wrong instrument for a Belgian-made food sold in India, and it is reported because it is the one register that is genuinely brand-searchable rather than because it covers this supply chain. Coverage limit established 13 October 2026, and it is the main thing to read here: this endpoint does not meaningfully index pet food recalls, so the nil above is a fact about the register's coverage of this product class rather than about the brand. Seven firms with documented pet food recalls return zero rows, among them Mars Petcare's Pedigree wet dog food recall of 2 July 2026, Fromm Family Foods' of 21 August 2026 and Revival Animal Health's of 26 August 2026, all three of which are listed in the US FDA Animal & Veterinary register, while human-food controls on the same endpoint on the same day return 42 rows for one firm and 1,354 for one product category. The "pet food" control row is itself a diced-carrot recall. The Animal & Veterinary row is therefore the check that carries weight on this page, and this row is kept because a register that was queried and found wanting is worth reporting as such.

US FDA Animal & Veterinary recalls

This endpoint refused a direct client on the day of this check while serving a browser, so the result is reported from a rendering fetch of the same URLs. The control returns two Pedigree entries, so the register answers. It covers the United States only, which for a Belgian-made and United Kingdom-made range is not the relevant jurisdiction, and the European register that is relevant could not be read.

Fidele is an importer's own label, and the importer says so

Orange Pet Nutrition describes itself as India's leading importer of premium pet food and never as a manufacturer, which makes Fidele a brand with no factory behind it.

The company's own words. Orange Pet Nutrition's site is headed "Orange Pet Nutrition: India's Leading Importer of Premium Pet Food". Nothing read on it describes the company as manufacturing anything. Its terms page confirms that fidele.co "is owned and operated by Orange Pet Nutrition Private Limited";.

The corporate record. Orange Pet Nutrition Private Limited holds CIN U15332PN2019PTC183135 and is registered in Pune City, Maharashtra. The brand's own About page names the founders as Bharat Pittie and Aiyaaz Hamirani and says "Fidele is the brainchild of Orange Pet Nutrition, a name that has garnered the trust of pet parents for over 25 years";.

No founding year appears on this page. The brand claims over 25 years for Orange Pet Nutrition while the company's own CIN encodes a 2019 incorporation, and both can be true if the founders traded through an earlier vehicle. Until that earlier company is identified, a founding year here would be invented precision. It is listed in what is not established.

Why that structure matters to a buyer rather than being trivia. An importer's own label means the recipe is specified by a company in Pune and cooked by a company somewhere else. The brand is a specification and a bag, not a factory, so questions about how the food is made have to be asked of a manufacturer the brand does not put in front of you. Three other brands in this research sit the same way, and Bark Out Loud is the case where the maker stays unnamed entirely. Fidele does disclose its maker, which is the better outcome, and it takes a retailer's statutory block to find it.

The range covers every life stage and then some. Starter puppy for weaning, mini and maxi puppy, mini and maxi adult, a senior adult, wet pouches in three recipes, and six veterinary diets, which is a wider life stage spread than any other brand in this research offers. The recall history for the brand and its named manufacturer is set out further down, with the controls and the jurisdictional limits that make a nil readable.

The brand's own site gives three countries, and one page gives two at once

Fidele's dry food says Belgium, its veterinary diets say the United Kingdom and its wet pouches say India, all on the brand's own product pages, and one veterinary diet says both the United Kingdom and Belgium in the same description.

Belgium, from the brand and from the pack. The About page says "Made in Belgium" and that "every Fidele recipe is proudly crafted in Belgium, one of the world's most respected destinations for premium pet food manufacturing". The statutory block on Supertails' listings gives "Name & Address of Manufacturer: United Pet Food Producers NV, Terdonkkaai 16, 9042 Gent, Belgium" with "Imported by" and "Marketed by" both Orange Pet Nutrition at its Lonikand, Pune address. A fourth seller states the country of origin as Belgium outright.

What Fidele's own product pages say about where each range is made, read 13 October 2026 Fidele+, the brand's own Shopify product…
RangeWhat the brand's own product body says
Dry food, Maxi and Mini, adult and puppy"Made in Belgium"
Veterinary Diet Weight Management"Manufactured in the United Kingdom" AND "Made in Belgium", both in one description
Veterinary Diet Skin Support, Puppy Growth, Hypoallergenic, Gastro Intestinal"Manufactured in the United Kingdom to maintain the highest standards of quality"
Veterinary Diet Renal Support"Manufactured in the Belgium to maintain the highest standards of quality"
Renal Wet Pouch for Cats"Manufactured in India" and "Conceptualised and manufactured in India"
All veterinary diets"Conceptualized in India in collaboration with veterinary and canine nutrition experts"

Read the second row again, because it is the sharpest item here. The Weight Management veterinary diet's own product description contains both "Manufactured in the United Kingdom" and "Made in Belgium". Those two statements contradict each other on one page, one of them is wrong, and the brand does not say which. Its sibling Renal Support formula says "Manufactured in the Belgium", with the stray article, while the other four veterinary diets all say the United Kingdom.

Where the United Kingdom points, and how far that gets us. The manufacturer named on Fidele's dry food belongs to the United Petfood group, and that group's own privacy policy lists exactly one United Kingdom company: "United Petfood UK Ltd., with its registered office at Station road Llangadog Unit 1, SA19 9LY Wales";. So a United Kingdom origin for the veterinary diets most likely means Llangadog. The brand names no plant for those diets, so this is a strong pointer and not a statement of fact, and it is listed in what is not established.

Three Supertails listings declare the country of origin as USA. Each reads, in one line, "Country of Origin: USA Name & Address of Manufacturer: United Pet Food Producers NV, Terdonkkaai 16, 9042 Gent, Belgium";. It appears on the Large Puppy, the Adult Light & Senior and the Adult Small & Medium pages. Nothing corroborates a United States origin anywhere, the brand's own site says Belgium, and the same line names a Belgian factory, so this reads as a retailer data error and this page does not report a fourth country.

Amazon's current listings name the importer as the manufacturer and give no country at all. The 2.7 kg Maxi Adult listing gives "Manufacturer | Orange Pet Nutrition" and a Pune address as packer, with no country of origin field. Putting the importer where the manufacturer belongs is the same defect found on Bark Out Loud's Flipkart listings, and it is how an imported food comes to look domestic.

Fidele and Petstar are made by one group, from that group's own filing

United Petfood's own privacy policy lists both the Ghent company named on Fidele's pack and the Llangadog company named on Petstar's pack as members of one group, which makes two brands on an Indian shelf customers of a single manufacturer.

The document, and why it is the right one. United Petfood publishes a website privacy policy under the General Data Protection Regulation, and such a policy has to identify the data controller accurately. It states "The United Petfood group consists of the following companies" and then lists fifteen, with registered offices and VAT numbers. Two of them matter here.

Two entries from United Petfood's own group list, against the two Indian brands that name them United Petfood, Website Privacy Policy
Entity as the group lists itWhere an Indian buyer meets it
United Petfood Producers NV, Terdonkkaai 16, 9042 Ghent, Belgium, VAT BE 0415.563.638Named as manufacturer on Fidele's pack
United Petfood UK Ltd., Station road Llangadog Unit 1, SA19 9LY Wales, VAT GB366 5233 44Named as manufacturer on Petstar's pack
United Petfood Group BV, Terdonkkaai 16, 9042 GhentThe group's stated headquarters, which an Indian buyer never meets

So this is established rather than inferred. Petstar's page recorded the shared-manufacturer question as not established, because the manufacturer's own site could not be read at the time. The group's privacy policy answers it. Fidele and Petstar are not two independent European-made options on an Indian shelf; they are two customers of one manufacturing group, one served from Belgium and one from Wales.

This is a disclosure point and not a quality one. A specialist contract manufacturer running fifteen plants across six countries may well hold better process control than a brand-owned line. What a reader cannot do is treat these two brands as independent evidence about each other, or read a shortlist carrying both as offering two separate answers. This directory's disclosure rule covers common ownership; this case is common manufacture, which is invisible to a buyer and is the second such case after Bark Out Loud.

What the group list does not tell us. It gives registered offices, not production lines, so the Ghent address may be a head office rather than the plant that cooked a given bag. The group also lists companies in France, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy, any of which could in principle produce a Belgian-marketed recipe. The honest statement is that the entity on Fidele's pack and the entity on Petstar's pack are one group, which is exactly what the document establishes and no more.

The packs shrank and two sellers still declare the old weight

Fidele's bags went from 1 kg, 3 kg and 12 kg to 900 g, 2.7 kg and 10.8 kg at the same rupee prices, the brand marks the new ones as new, and an Amazon listing still declares 12,000 grams.

The brand's own two storefronts agree, and label the new weights. Both fidele.co and orangepet.in list the Maxi Adult dry food at 900 g for Rs 750, 2.7 kg for Rs 2,150 and 10.8 kg for Rs 7,900, and Orange Pet's variant names carry the word New on each. A seller marking a size as new is a seller telling you the old one has gone.

The same three price points, as four sellers describe the weight, read 13 October 2026 Animeal, the shop's own Shopify product…
SellerSmall bagMid bagLarge bag
fidele.co, the brand900 g at Rs 7502.7 kg at Rs 2,15010.8 kg at Rs 7,900
orangepet.in, same company900 g at Rs 750, marked New2.7 kg at Rs 2,150, marked New10.8 kg at Rs 7,900, marked New
Animeal1 kg at Rs 7503 kg at Rs 2,15012 kg at Rs 7,900
Amazonnot read2.7 kg at Rs 1,924.46, Net Quantity 2700.0 Grams"12 Kg" at Rs 8,033, Net Quantity 12000.0 Grams

The Amazon case is the consequential one because the quantity is a declared field, not a title. Its legacy listing is titled "Fidele+ Dry Dog Food 12 Kg Adult Large Breeds" and gives "Net Quantity | 12000.0 Grams" at Rs 8,033. The brand's current large bag is 10.8 kg. If that listing ships the current pack, a buyer pays Rs 8,033 for 1.2 kg less food than the page declares, and the price per kilogram moves from Rs 669.42 to Rs 743.80, which is 11 percent.

Before you buy any Fidele bag, check the weight printed on the pack against the weight on the listing you bought it from. Two of the five sellers priced here describe the same price point as 10 percent more food than the brand's own store does. This page cannot tell you which pack any given seller will ship, because that depends on their stock, and it can tell you the discrepancy exists and how much money it is worth.

Supertails carries both labels on one page. Its Adult Light & Senior listing offers 10.8 kg at Rs 8,075 and also a 13.5 kg at Rs 7,505 marked unavailable, plus both a 2.7 kg at Rs 2,185 and a "3kg+500g Free" at Rs 2,300. A 13.5 kg variant priced below the 10.8 kg cannot be right, and it is out of stock, which is consistent with a retired label rather than a live product.

Five sellers, and the brand's own shop is the most expensive

The 2.7 kg Maxi Adult bag runs from Rs 1,924.46 on Amazon to Rs 2,150 on the brand's own two storefronts, so buying direct costs 11.7 percent more than the cheapest seller.

The five prices, cheapest first. Amazon Rs 1,924.46, Rufftail Rs 1,935, Supertails Rs 2,086, Animeal Rs 2,150, and Orange Pet's own stores Rs 2,150 Rufftail, Pune, the shop's own Shopify… Supertails, the shop's own Shopify product… Animeal, the shop's own Shopify product… Fidele+, the brand's own Shopify product…. That is a spread of Rs 225.54, or 11.7 percent of the cheapest.

Buying from the brand is the dearest option, which is the third time this research has found that. Bark Out Loud's own shop was dearest on all fifteen comparable packs and Henlo's owning retailer is no longer its cheapest seller. The pattern is consistent enough to be worth a rule: on an Indian pet food brand, the manufacturer's own storefront is not the price to beat.

Two storefronts, one company, identical prices. fidele.co and orangepet.in both belong to Orange Pet Nutrition and list the same figures to the rupee. They look like two sellers in a search result and they are one, which is the same trap Whiskas sets with Petsy and Zigly. This page counts them once.

Fidele is the most expensive dry dog food in this research. Its range runs from roughly Rs 713 to Rs 978 per kilogram on the brand's own store. Compare that with Petstar at Rs 392 and Bark Out Loud's Thai tier at Rs 234 per kilogram. That is consistent with an imported European product carrying freight and duty, and the connection between the price and the origin is the thing a buyer should take from it rather than a judgement about value.

The per-kilogram ladder is steep and rewards the big bag. On the brand's own store the Maxi Adult runs Rs 833.33 per kilogram at 900 g, Rs 796.30 at 2.7 kg and Rs 731.48 at 10.8 kg, a 12.2 percent saving from smallest to largest. Unlike Whiskas, where the direction of the discount changed by shop, this one runs the expected way everywhere it was checked.

Every price here was divided by 84.38, 74 and 66.67 to test whether it is a converted dollar list rather than a rupee one. One quotient lands close: Amazon's Rs 1,924.46 divided by 74 is 26.006, and it is not a conversion. Rs 1,924.46 is a percentage discount off a Rs 2,150 rupee maximum retail price, which is exactly how a figure ends in 46 paise, and 74 has not been the rupee-dollar rate for well over a decade. Reporting the quotient and the reason beats reporting a pass. Separately, one seller not counted in the five, petgearpoint.com, displays these rupee figures with a dollar sign, showing Rs 9,690 as $9,690.00 and a second price as $299.99, so its figures are not used here.

Six veterinary diets, including a renal formula, sold with no prescription step

Fidele sells six therapeutic diets direct from its own store, covering renal, gastrointestinal, hypoallergenic, skin, weight and growth, and nothing in the buying process asks what the dog has been diagnosed with.

The range and what it costs. Renal Support at Rs 1,650 for 1.5 kg and Rs 4,000 for 4 kg, Gastro Intestinal at Rs 1,750 and Rs 4,350, Weight Management at Rs 1,800 and Rs 3,850, Hypoallergenic at Rs 2,000 and Rs 4,775, Skin Support at Rs 2,200 and Rs 5,400, and Puppy Growth at Rs 1,600 and Rs 3,700. That is Rs 925 to Rs 1,466.67 per kilogram, well above the brand's ordinary range.

These are foods written for a diagnosis. A renal diet restricts protein and phosphorus because a failing kidney cannot clear them. A hypoallergenic diet works by removing proteins a particular dog reacts to. Both are the right food for a dog that has been diagnosed and neither is a general-purpose food. The brand's own store sells them alongside its ordinary bags with no step asking what the dog has.

Buy a therapeutic diet because a veterinarian who has examined your dog told you to, not because a website sells it. This page makes no judgement about these formulas and is not suggesting they are unsafe. The point is that a renal or hypoallergenic food is designed around a diagnosis, and the diagnosis is the part the shopping basket skips. The same pattern appears on Petstar's V Diet range, there on a retailer's site rather than the brand's own.

The expert claim names nobody. Every veterinary diet description says the formula was "Conceptualized in India in collaboration with veterinary and canine nutrition experts", and the cat renal pouch adds "Vet recommended". No veterinarian or nutritionist is named anywhere on the brand's product data. This directory reports such a claim and attributes it and does not pass it on as a recommendation, because a recommendation a reader cannot trace to a named person is not one they can weigh. The standard is on our how we test page.

And the veterinary diets are where the origin story is least clear. Five of the six say the United Kingdom, one says Belgium, and one of the five also says Belgium in the same breath. For the range that carries the highest price and the most clinical claim, the brand's own pages are least consistent about where it is made.

Nobody answers where Fidele comes from, and the search results are about another company

Searching for where Fidele dog food is made returns no result about Fidele at all, and several about Fides Petfood, a different Belgian manufacturer with a similar name.

Page one, in order. A German veterinary start-up, a Facebook post about a Belgian manufacturer buying a plant in Decatur, a Facebook group thread about EU pet food brands, Farmina's own help page about its four factories, a directory of Belgian pet food manufacturers, a Facebook post about Versele-Laga, Fides Petfood on a Flanders trade site, a Whimzees press release, and Fides Petfood again on an Interzoo exhibitor page. Not one of the nine is about Fidele.

Two of the nine are about a company whose name is one letter different. Fides Petfood is a separate Belgian producer with plants in Belgium and France. A reader searching for Fidele's maker can land on Fides' certifications and conclude they have found the answer. The actual answer, United Pet Food Producers NV at Terdonkkaai 16 in Ghent, appears on none of those nine results and is printed on the pack.

Google's AI Overview answers the question, and gets the structure right. It gives Belgium and United Pet Food Producers NV for the dry food, India and Orange Pet Nutrition for the wet pouches, and the United Kingdom for the veterinary diets. Checked against the brand's own product bodies, all three match. It lists no sources, so this page verified each one independently rather than relying on it, and the overview is more accurate here than the nine organic results beneath it.

On the review query, nobody independent has assessed this food. Page one is Amazon, a retailer's product page, the brand's own site, the parent's own site, a Supertails collection, LoyalPetZone, a retailer's customer-review aggregation and an Instagram reel. Supertails' own collection page answers the question "What is the review of Fidele Dog Food?" with "Fidele Dog Food is praised for its high-quality ingredients, tailored nutrition for various breeds, and affordability", which is a retailer writing a review of a brand it sells.

One marketing line worth noticing on a Belgian-made food. Amazon's listing says the food is "made using holistic ingredients of Ayurveda such as coconut oil, ginger, turmeric and holy basil", and the brand's wet pouch pages say "Keeping with our Indian roots we have added turmeric for its anti-inflammatory qua[lities]";. An Indian-specified, Ayurveda-positioned recipe cooked in Belgium is a coherent product and an unusual one, and the Indian framing is the part a buyer sees first.

The listicle that put this brand in front of Indian readers praises its transparency. Supertails' Top 10 Vet-Recommended Dog Food Brands in India ranks Fidele eighth under the heading "The Science Behind Fidele: What Full Ingredient Disclosure Looks Like", and credits it with "premium ingredient selection, complete transparency, and active collaboration with veterinary professionals";. No veterinary professional is named, and the page does not tell a reader the food is made in Belgium by a contract manufacturer. That is the gap this page fills.

What Indian law requires of an imported dog food

Fidele is imported, so it enters India under a permit from the animal husbandry department rather than the food regulator, and no compulsory nutritional standard applies to it.

Pet food is not legally food in India. The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 defines food for human consumption and excludes animal feed, so the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India sets no compulsory nutritional standard for dog food. Every nutritional claim on this brand sits outside a standard a reader can check it against.

The Indian standard for kibble is voluntary and a poor fit for an import. IS 11968:2019 is the Bureau of Indian Standards specification for extruded pet food and conformity is not compulsory. No BIS, ISI or IS 11968 reference was found on fidele.co, orangepet.in or any listing read for this page, which is unremarkable for a product made to Belgian specifications.

The regime that does apply sits with the animal husbandry department. The Animal Quarantine and Certification Service publishes India's import procedures, names the Pet Food Products of Animal Origin (Import into India) Order, 2008, and states that a Sanitary Import Permit is issued for high risk products listed in notification SO 2666(E) dated 16.10.14, with pet foods as item 6. Required documents include an official health certificate from the country of origin. Fidele's recipes are chicken, fish and egg based, so they are products of animal origin.

Which gives the three-country problem a documentary edge. An official health certificate comes from the veterinary authority of the exporting country, so a Belgian-made bag and a United Kingdom-made bag travelled under certificates from different authorities. The brand's pages do not say which range came under which, and no listing read here publishes a permit number or certificate reference.

The labelling duty is the one the listings handle loosely. The Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules require a pre-packaged commodity to declare the country of origin where it is imported, together with the manufacturer, packer or importer, and to state the net quantity. Three Supertails listings answer the first with USA, Amazon's current listing omits it and names the importer as manufacturer, and two sellers state a net quantity 10 percent above the brand's own.

No FSSAI licence number appears anywhere. Not on fidele.co, not on orangepet.in and not on any retail listing read here. An importer and marketer of pet food in India would be expected to hold a licence, and nothing found suggests otherwise, so this is a disclosure gap rather than a compliance finding. Across every brand in this research the only licence number found on a pack belongs to Henlo.

What we could not establish

The 13 questions below are the ones this page could not answer, and they are published rather than left out. Each one names what was looked for, where, why it could not be settled, and the test that would show it if the answer were there.

Which plant makes the veterinary diets, and whether the United Kingdom statement is right

A plant name or address for the veterinary diet range

Looked in: five of the six veterinary diet bodies, which say Manufactured in the United Kingdom and name no plant, the Weight Management body, which says both the United Kingdom and Belgium, the Renal Support body, which says Manufactured in the Belgium, the United Petfood group list, which has exactly one United Kingdom company, at Llangadog in Wales

Why it could not be settled: If the United Kingdom statement is right, the only candidate inside the group that makes the brand's dry food is the Llangadog site, which is also the plant named on Petstar's pack. That would mean two Indian brands' premium ranges come off one Welsh line. It is a strong pointer and the brand names no plant, and one of its own pages contradicts the country outright, so nothing is established.

What would show otherwise: A pack panel for any veterinary diet naming its manufacturer, or a corrected product page, would settle both halves.

Why three Supertails listings declare USA

An explanation or correction for the country of origin field on those three pages

Looked in: the three Supertails listings themselves, which give USA beside a Belgian manufacturer address, the brand's own site, which says Belgium, three other sellers and the pack block, which say Belgium

Why it could not be settled: Nothing corroborates a United States origin and four sources contradict it, so this page treats it as a retailer data error rather than reporting a fourth country. What caused it is not established, and attributing it to carelessness or to a template would be unsupported. The error has persisted across at least two readings six weeks apart and now appears on three products rather than one.

What would show otherwise: A corrected listing, or a statement from the retailer, would establish the cause.

Which pack weight any given seller actually ships

Confirmation of the physical pack weight behind each listing

Looked in: the brand's own two storefronts, which say 900 g, 2.7 kg and 10.8 kg and mark them New, Animeal, which gives 1 kg, 3 kg and 12 kg at the same prices, Amazon, whose legacy listing declares Net Quantity 12000.0 Grams and whose current listing declares 2700.0 Grams, Supertails, which carries both a 10.8 kg and an unavailable 13.5 kg on one page

Why it could not be settled: The brand marking its sizes as new is good evidence the packs were downsized, and it does not establish what is in a particular seller's warehouse. A buyer could receive either weight from a seller carrying a stale label, and the difference is about 10 percent of the food. This is the single most consequential unresolved item on the brand.

What would show otherwise: A photograph of the net quantity printed on a pack bought from each seller would settle it per seller.

The earlier company behind Fidele's pre-2019 trading history, and so the brand's founding year

An identified legal entity behind the over 25 years claim

Looked in: the brand's About page, which claims over 25 years for Orange Pet Nutrition, the corporate record, whose CIN encodes a 2019 incorporation in Pune

Why it could not be settled: Both statements can be true if the founders traded through an earlier vehicle, which is common. Until that entity is identified, a founding year would be invented precision, so none appears on this page. A company-history claim resting on a marketing line is the weakest material in this research and is marked as such.

What would show otherwise: The earlier company's name and CIN, or a dated trademark registration for the brand, would establish it.

Which United Petfood plant cooked any particular Fidele bag

A production site rather than a registered office

Looked in: the pack block, which gives United Pet Food Producers NV at Terdonkkaai 16, 9042 Gent, the group's privacy policy, which gives that same address as a registered office and lists the group's headquarters at it too, the group's own quality page, which returned 404 on this attempt

Why it could not be settled: A registered office is not necessarily a production line, and the group lists companies in Belgium, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy and the United Kingdom. The entity on the pack is established; the line it came off is not. The group's site serves no content to a direct fetch and three of its section paths return 404, so its own plant list could not be read.

What would show otherwise: A readable plant list from the manufacturer, or a batch code traced to a site, would establish it.

Whether the Llangadog plant holds a BRC or BRCGS certificate

A certificate, scheme name or certifier for the plant named on Petstar's pack

Looked in: the manufacturer's own quality page, which returned 404 on this attempt and so was not read, a seller's description of the Welsh plant as BRCGS-certified, recorded on the Petstar page as uncorroborated

Why it could not be settled: An index listing suggested the manufacturer publishes a page naming BRC-certified sites including Llangadog, and that page could not be retrieved, so nothing is asserted from it. A search index entry is evidence that a page existed, not evidence of its current contents. This item is carried forward from the Petstar page unchanged.

What would show otherwise: A readable quality page from the manufacturer, or a certificate number in the BRCGS directory, would close it.

Whether the manufacturer produces only under private label

The group's own statement of its business model

Looked in: the group's homepage, which serves a JavaScript shell with no readable content to a direct fetch, its /en/quality, /en/contact and /en/about-us paths, which all returned 404 on this attempt, a search index entry describing the group as a 100 percent private label producer, which is not a page read

Why it could not be settled: If the group produces exclusively under private label then its address on any bag means the brand on the front owns no factory, which is a clean general conclusion. The claim could not be read from the group's own site today. It also is not needed for Fidele specifically, because Orange Pet Nutrition's own site calls it an importer and never a manufacturer, which reaches the same conclusion for this brand.

What would show otherwise: A readable about or contact page from the manufacturer stating its model would close it.

Who the veterinary and canine nutrition experts behind the therapeutic range are

A named veterinarian or nutritionist, a qualification, or an institution

Looked in: all six veterinary diet bodies, which say conceptualized in India in collaboration with veterinary and canine nutrition experts and name nobody, the cat renal pouch, which adds Vet recommended and names nobody, the brand's About page, which names its two founders and no clinical staff

Why it could not be settled: The claim is the therapeutic range's main appeal to authority and no person stands behind it publicly. This directory does not publish a vet-recommended claim without naming who made it, so it is reportable as a claim and cannot be passed on. Naming nobody is not evidence that nobody exists.

What would show otherwise: A named veterinarian with a stated qualification, or a published formulation study with authors, would make it checkable.

What the EU RASFF portal holds for Fidele or United Petfood

A search of the European Commission's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed

Looked in: the RASFF Window search screen, which displayed a planned maintenance notice on a recent attempt, this page's register checks, which cover the United States only

Why it could not be settled: The manufacturer is Belgian and its group spans six European countries, which makes RASFF the jurisdictionally correct register for this brand rather than a completeness exercise. A European recall of a product also sold in India would be material. The portal was unavailable when last tried, and an unavailable register is not an empty one.

What would show otherwise: A RASFF search for Fidele and for United Petfood's entities, with a control returning pet food notifications, would close it.

The import licensing route under the 2008 Order, and the importer of record per range

A permit number, a veterinary health certificate reference, or the text of the Order

Looked in: the AQCS procedures page, which names the Order and the high-risk list without reproducing the Order's text, every listing read for this page, none of which references a permit, the brand's pages, which name Orange Pet Nutrition as importer and give no permit

Why it could not be settled: The regime is established and its application to any consignment is published nowhere found. It matters more here than on a single-origin brand, because a Belgian range and a United Kingdom range would travel under certificates from different veterinary authorities. No register of permits issued under the Order was located, which is a limit of the regime rather than a finding about this company.

What would show otherwise: The 2008 Order read in full, plus a permit number on an import document, would establish both halves.

Whether any FSSAI licence number appears on a Fidele pack or listing

A licence number on either of the company's two sites or any retail listing

Looked in: fidele.co, including its terms and product pages, orangepet.in, the Supertails, Amazon, Animeal, Rufftail and I Think Pets listings

Why it could not be settled: An importer and marketer of pet food in India would be expected to hold a licence, and nothing found suggests otherwise. What is established is only that none of the pages read publishes a number, so a reader cannot check it against the regulator's register. This held for every brand in this research except one.

What would show otherwise: A licence number printed on a pack or published by the importer would close it.

I Think Pets' prices for the Adult Large range

A per-variant price from that seller

Looked in: the I Think Pets product page, which showed the same figure, Rs 1,978, against both the 2.7 kg and the 10.8 kg variant

Why it could not be settled: One price against two pack sizes four times apart cannot be right, and it is the signature of a page showing a single displayed price while a variant selector sits unset. The seller is counted as carrying the brand and as a source for the Belgium origin, and its figures are not used in the price table.

What would show otherwise: The page read with each variant selected in turn would give usable figures.

Whether Fidele and Fidele+ are one brand renamed or two live ranges

A statement distinguishing the two names

Looked in: fidele.co, which is branded Fidele+ throughout, retailers, which use Fidele, Fidele+ and Fidele Plus interchangeably for the same products, a Justdial listing pairing the name with Arden Grange, another brand the same importer carries

Why it could not be settled: Every product checked appears under both names at different sellers with matching prices and weights, which points to one range and inconsistent naming rather than two. That is a reading, not a statement, and no page found says so. It matters only because a reader comparing a Fidele listing with a Fidele+ listing may think they are different products.

What would show otherwise: A statement from the brand, or a pack carrying one name and not the other, would resolve it.

Common questions

Where is Fidele dog food made?

The dry food is made in Belgium by United Pet Food Producers NV at Terdonkkaai 16, 9042 Gent, which the brand states itself and which appears in the statutory block on retailer listings. The brand's own pages give the United Kingdom for five of its six veterinary diets and India for its wet pouches, so the answer depends on which Fidele product you are holding.

Who owns Fidele dog food?

Orange Pet Nutrition Private Limited of Pune, CIN U15332PN2019PTC183135, founded by Bharat Pittie and Aiyaaz Hamirani. The company describes itself as India's leading importer of premium pet food and nowhere as a manufacturer, so Fidele is an importer's own label rather than a brand with its own factory.

Is Fidele the same as Petstar?

No, they are different brands with different Indian owners, and their dry food comes from one manufacturing group. United Petfood's own privacy policy lists both the Ghent company named on Fidele's pack and the Llangadog company named on Petstar's pack among its fifteen group companies. A shortlist carrying both is carrying two customers of one manufacturer.

Did Fidele reduce its pack sizes?

The brand's own two storefronts now list 900 g, 2.7 kg and 10.8 kg at the rupee prices previously shown for 1 kg, 3 kg and 12 kg, and Orange Pet marks each new size with the word New. Animeal still lists 1 kg, 3 kg and 12 kg at those prices, and an Amazon listing still declares Net Quantity 12000.0 Grams. Check the weight on the pack against the listing.

Why is Fidele so expensive?

It runs from about Rs 713 to Rs 978 per kilogram on the brand's own store, against Rs 392 for Petstar's 3 kg bag and Rs 234 for Bark Out Loud's Thai-made tier. It is imported from Belgium, which carries freight and duty, and the connection between the price and the origin is the useful part. This page makes no judgement about whether the premium is worth paying.

Has Fidele dog food been recalled?

No openFDA food enforcement report matches Fidele, United Petfood or Orange Pet Nutrition, and no US FDA animal and veterinary recall entry matches Fidele, both checked on 13 October 2026 against controls that returned results. Both registers are American, which is the wrong jurisdiction for a Belgian-made food, and the EU RASFF portal that is the right one could not be read.
